Service Description
Night Vision 101 – Intro to Night Ops This two-day course is designed to give students a solid foundation in the function, use, and application of night vision equipment. Day 1 will be held in the GA Firing Line classroom and will cover how night vision works, gear selection and setup, safety considerations, and basic operation and navigation techniques. (4 hours) Day 2 takes place at Rifle Ranch and includes practical exercises with both pistols and rifles. Students will shoot during daylight hours to confirm zero and gear setup, then transition into low-light and full darkness shooting under night vision. (8 hours) Due to the nature of handling firearms in the dark, this class requires students to know and be intimately comfortable with handling their firearms and equipment. (subject to GFL staff approval, please ask if you have any questions) TOPICS COVERED: -Safety expectations and briefing -Helmet evaluation and guided set up -Gun and ammunition management under low light / NVG -Building a shooting platform -Recoil management and sight tracking -Balance of Speed and Precision -Refining the draw process -Photonic Barriers -Target focused shooting with and without NVGs -Shooting to standards (prizes for top shot) (stickers / merch) REQUIRED GEAR: - A helmet - A modern semi-automatic rifle with an IR laser aiming device - Reliable modern handgun with holster; Appendix, IWB, OWB, DUTY / ALS is fine. (NO BLACKHAWK SERPA, FABRIC, OR LEATHER HOLSTERS) - Red dot or iron sights that are zeroed (we will confirm / adjust zero as we begin) - A strong belt to carry holster and other equipment (gun belt recommended) - 3-5 magazines per firearm - Eye and ear protection - bug spray (if needed) - HYDRATION + LUNCH (you may be judged on your snack game) - 300+ rounds of pistol ammunition (more is recommended) - 400+ rounds of rifle ammunition (more is recommended) - A Sharpie and something to take notes (phone notes are fine) -DIRECTION INFO- If you have issues finding the property: Use Gold Ridge Baptist Church as a land mark.
