About the event

WE START HIKING AT 9:30AM. PLAN TO ARRIVE EARLY

GA Firing Line's Hike and Shoot event is a chance to test all your gear working together engaging pistol targets from 2-25 yards and rifle targets from 50-750 yards. Participants will hike everything they need for the day with them (ammo, food, water, etc). Total hike distance will be 5 miles over hilly terrain shooting both pistol and rifle at every stage. Each leg of the hike ranges from .2 - .5 of a mile. Once you arrive at each stage you will engage close targets with your pistol then engage rifle targets out to 750 yards from improvised positions with your rifle. Participants are encouraged to bring 100 rifle rounds and 100 pistol rounds. That being said the round count will be at the shooters discretion. Both of the safety officers are long range instructors so we will be there to help you gets your hits if you have never shot your DMR gun that far.

Spots are limited so make sure you sign-up quick.

Required equipment:

-Pistol

-Rifle with minimum 3x magnified optic

-100rds of quality (especially the rifle) ammunition for each firearm

-Quality backpack to hike all your gear

-Food and water

No steel core or armor piercing ammo (if it has a green tip don’t bring it).

No rear facing holsters/cross draw chest rig holsters.

No Serpa, leather, or fabric holsters

Rifle must have an optic and sling

We strongly recommend to following:

-Make sure all of your ammo is the same. Changing ammo mid day doesn’t go well.

-Make sure your rifle is zeroed at 50yds or 100yds prior to the day of the shoot. ( You cannot zero the day of)

-Practice transitioning for pistol to rifle and rifle to pistol. (covered in AR DYNAMICS

-Practice moving around obstacles without pointing your firearm behind you (we do a lot of multi-directional movement)

-While you can shoot the event with a red dot on your rifle we strongly recommend a magnified optic.

-We recommend a magazine fed rifle that holds at least 10 rounds.

-Put all your gear on. Walk around with it. Make sure nothing is terrible.

-We are hiking over diverse terrain so you will want appropriate footwear.

-You will get in the dirt and brush so be ready to get your stuff dirty.
